Pakistan Currency Redesign New Notes Expected in Pakistan 2025
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is planning to redesign all Pakistani currency notes, as confirmed by the Governor of SBP, Jameel Ahmed, during a recent press conference.
Expected Launch Date
The proposal for new designs has already been submitted to the Government Cabinet for approval. If approved on time, the redesigned currency notes are likely to begin rolling out around June 2025.
Gradual Rollout
The Governor clarified that not all notes will change at once. Instead, the new designs will be introduced step by step over some time. However, it hasn’t been revealed which denomination will be updated first.
Printing Delays & Technical Challenges
Security Paper Limited, the company responsible for printing currency, has indicated that new printing machines are needed to produce these redesigned notes — especially because they will come with enhanced security features. As of now, those machines haven’t been purchased, which might delay the process further.
